Check Out The Gritty Video For ‘Belles Femmes’ From French Rapper Zola

Disclaimer: I can’t speak a word of French. I took it in secondary school, but it didn’t work out. Though I can’t understand any of the lyrics, I’ve been addicted to this video from French driller Zola. A quick cutaway to Google Translate reveals that the title means ‘Beautiful Women’. Interestingly, the video doesn’t include one beautiful lady – it’s an advertisement for the grittiness of Zola’s hood, as him and his crew exhibit sub-machine guns and Yamaha dirtbikes. This track’s been on repeat this week, and we are getting drawn into the world of French trap. More of these tracks soon hopefully.

Step Into The ‘Paranoid’ Mind Of Jeshi

“Barely got a night’s sleep in the last ninety days” – we definitely know that feeling. ‘Paranoid’ is the new track from east London’s Jeshi, offering a meandering journey into the rapper’s thoughts and feelings. The thumping instrumental is from Mura Masa, who Jeshi tells Fader (who premiered the track) contacted him via Twitter DMs in order to organise the link up. Jeshi’s been on fire recently, having dropped another new track ‘RUSH’ via COLORS a couple weeks back.

The tracks artwork comes from visual artist Bafic, who is very dope – you can catch more of his work here.

 

Get A Bird’s Eye View Of MIKE’s Hood In The Video For ‘GOD’S WITH ME’

MIKE. Very cold, very elusive. We caught him at his ‘BY THE WATER‘ EP launch at the Peckham Nines last week. Standing next to us in the crowd were King Krule & Cosmo Pyke, along with deep Hip Hop fans from all across the city and beyond. Though his tracks are often moody, MIKE kept the energies up, delivering a memorable show. Following this, he dropped the video for ‘GOD’S WITH ME’, the final track of the EP. Delivered in black and white, the visuals offer a drone’s eye footage of MIKE as he walks through his hood, linking up with various pals along the way. Though it’s a simple concept, the Fons Schiedon directed video matches the atmosphere of the track. If you want flashy lyrics and 808 glides then look elsewhere – MIKE is raw and to the point in both beat (which he produced), and lyrics.

Keeping up with their uncanny skill of nurturing underground musical talent before the rest of the world has heard about it, COLORS has provided the setting for a new track from Jeshi. Providing moping London lyricism, Jeshi has been on our radar since we came across his morose feature on OTG‘s ‘Birkbeck’ on SoundCloud last year. Jeshi’s tone is unique, and his new track ‘Rush’ is biting and memorable. Making a number of confessions, Jeshi’s lyricism is a cut above the rest, with reignsuprxme‘s instrumental providing a jolting backdrop.

There’s a missing person in Milkavelli‘s new video – it’s him. Addressing the cries of ‘Where’s Olly’ (his real name is Oliver), Milk gets gully in the black and white video directed by ABOVEGROUND. The eerie, piano-bending instrumental is from SNIFF, offering a disconcerting backdrop to the gritty vocals.

‘Where’s Olly’ is taken from his new album CULT MEMBER, which is fresh as fuck and dropped yesterday. Bump that as loud as you can here.

Wiley Is Still Calling The Shots In New Video With JME

It’s getting icy, as eskimo season looks to be approaching in full force. Shortly after dropping his Eskiboy autobiography (we’re still reading it – review pending), Wiley has dropped visuals for his new ‘Call The Shots’ track. Filmed by Kaylum Dennis on the streets of west London, it features lyrical dexterity from JME, and shows that Wiley’s still got as much creative fire as ever.

‘Call The Shots’ will be available on Wiley’s Godfather II album, which is set to drop on Feb 16th.
