It’s always gonna be a good day when Danny Brown is back on the scene. The Detroit rapper dropped jumpy new track “When It Rain” today, with production from the UK’s very own Paul White. Danny drops his impressively hurried flow over White’s jittery beat, which coupled with jarring visuals redacted from old VHS tapes by Mimi Cave results in a masterful piece of social commentary, with Danny stating of his hometown “everybody hungry in them streets / Nigga rob your grandma for something to eat / Know it’s fucked up, that’s how it be / Growing up living every day in the D”.
“When It Rain” is Danny’s first link up with Warp Records, having been previously signed to Fools Gold. Danny says of the partnership “with the blessing of my Fool’s Gold family by my side, I’m excited to be working with Warp on new material – They’re music fans to the same high degree I am, and I’m looking forward to breaking some rules together”.
According to a recent Instagram post, Danny is working on some brand new full length heat – we can’t wait.
