Following the release of popular UK Hip Hop EP Ethos, and being hailed as one of GRM Daily’s esteemed #NextGen10, Canning Town artist Rageouz feels like it’s time to spoil his listeners with some more good music.
“Ascension” is the brand new track from Rageouz. Sidestepping his usual energetic style and highlighting his versatility as an emcee, “Ascension” delivers a more chilled out and intimate vibe, allowing Rageouz a chance to showcase his lyrical prowess and evocative imagery within his bars. He takes this opportunity to get more sensual on track, directing illustrative bars to a lover over a warm instrumental.
Speaking of the track, Rageouz says:
“I think Ascension is one of my favourite tracks – because I wrote it in a completely different mind state from most of my recent tracks, and have carried traces of this throughout some of my new material. This was one of those tracks, that when i heard the instrumental, I almost heard the lyrics in my head immediately after.”
Inspired by Grime pioneers such as Dizzee Rascal, Crazy Titch, Wiley and Kano, Rageouz has been writing lyrics since the age of ten, after being directly inspired by Dizzee’s iconic album Boy In Da Corner. He has since released three EPs, and received extensive online coverage and interest.
2016 looks to be big year for Rageouz and his team, with fellow One50 artist Ayar having released his newest track “Patterns”, and Preachersoul dropping The 202 on February 11th. Make sure you’re tuned in – much more to come soon!
