If you’ve been following us for a while, you know that we love the work of L.A all-rounder Bones. We’ve had nothing but positive things to say about his past mixtapes, and the trend continues after today he dropped new mixtape “Powder”. In our opinion, Bones improves with each release, and we think this is his most refined and professional piece of output to date. At 57 minutes long, with 28 tracks, the tape is typically genre-defying, with everything from stabby metal instrumentals and singing (“ICanSeeMyHouseFromHere”) to the saxophone-driven “JazzDads,TakeOne” that could pass as elevator music in a really cool hotel.
“Powder” features a number of different producers, including Fifty Grand, HRNK, Greaf, Falls (+ many more), and is a consistent and triumphant continuation of the haunting atmosphere and genre-transversing sound that Bones masterfully creates with his music.
