East London’s KwolleM adds another ‘mellow grime’ banger to his portfolio

Remember a few weeks ago when we included that soulful remix of Skepta‘s ‘Bad Boy‘ in on of our playlists? We said we were looking forward to more examples of 20 year old producer KwolleM‘s self dubbed genre of ‘Mellow Grime’, and today he has a release that is keeping us more than satisfied. This time he has taken on Dizzee Rascal‘s ‘Stand Up Tall’ (absolute banger that will forever be etched into our minds thanks to Fifa Street) for one of his distinctive refixes. Kwollem has fused Dizzee’s aggressive vocals with a drum led soul track alongside a female singer, with intermittent Kidulthood quotes peppered throughout to keep that thuggish vibe. This producer has only very recently come onto the scene, with his ‘thugs essence’ project being released at the end of January, including a wide range of ‘vocals from Patti Labelle to Big H & Jme’, KwolleM is ambitious and well versed in his music taste, and we hope he keeps us this vibe!

Make sure you buck KwolleM via the links below. Definitely one to keep watch on.
