NEW TUNES: Jesse James Solomon and Tut

A couple days ago, we gave you a short playlist of our favourite songs of 2015 so far.

Since then, we’ve had a couple of new bangers dropped from London boy Jesse James Solomon and Chattanooga, Tennessee resident Tut that we’re gassed off and want to share with you. Both have new projects on the way in the upcoming months, and are artists worth having your ear trained towards.

Jesse James Solomon – Y.P.T

For those who like: Ghostpoet; Loyle Carner; Rejjie Snow

This new one from Jesse James Solomon, entitled Y.P.T (You Playing Though) appears to be a standalone track and there is no word of yet whether this will be on his new project. The track is a dreamy love affair filled with bouncy bass and far off claps and echoes, with Jesse’s controlled vocals floating comfortably over the instrumental. As typical with Jesse, the lyrics are more poetic and complex than most seem to be capable of, and while not his best work, this is a strong track which has us excited for his upcoming work.

Tut – Kids These Days

For those who like: Isaiah Rashad, Solar Five, Lucki Eck$

With new project Preacher’s Son imminently on the horizon (apparently dropping today in fact), Tennessee rapper dropped new track ‘Kids These Days’. The track is produced by Ktoven, and is a pleasant kickback track with well written lyrics and delivery, and is hopefully an accurate gauge of how good the new mixtape is going to be (review on its way when it drops!).
