Raekwon dropped his 19th edition of his #tbt series yesterday – a smooth remix of Carl Thomas and Faith Evans’ ‘Cant Believe’.
If you’re not sure what we’re on about, here’s the deal: In what originally started as (what was intended to be) a short summer series, Raekwon has been taking classic oldschool R&B and soul instrumentals (such as the Mary Jane Girls’ ‘All Night Long’ or Teena Marie’s ‘Ooh La La’, for example) and remixing them to add his own Wu-flavoured flow. These have been posted alongside the throwback Thursday tag (#tbt), and have been released every Thursday for the past 19 weeks. As mentioned, this week’s edition is a rework of Faith Evans’ and Carl Thomas’ ‘Can’t Believe’, a duet which was originally written and produced by Sean Combs and Mario Winans for Evan’s third full studio album, Faithfully, which dropped in 2001. Even though Raekwon only spits a quick 16 on this instrumental, and is finished not even one minute into the four and a half minute track, his delivery is impeccable and won’t leave you disappointed.
